kinesiotaping1Kinesio Taping is a technique that uses a special tape, and with its unique biomechanical therapeutic effect it has multiple purposes. Kinesio Taping tape mimics the properties of the skin. Depending on the therapeutic purpose, tapes are applied to a varying degrees of tension. It is used in various fields of physiotherapy, as well as assistance to other rehabilitation methods and manual techniques, in order to get the better therapeutic effects. This is a new principle of treating muscular disorders, reduction of lymphedema and pain.
Use of Kinesio Taping allows the prevention of injuries in sports, injury treatment, edema and reduce of pain. The person who wears the tape can use it up to 10 days depending on the desired therapeutic effect, in consultation with the therapist. For all that time, the tape can be washed without fear that it will come off.
Kinesio Taping was developed in Japan more than 25 years ago by Dr. Kenzo Kase. A technique is based on the process of encouraging the self-treatment of your own body. It is proving its effectiveness by activation of neurological and circulatory systems. This method is derived from the science of kinesiology-motion. Muscles are, besides moving of the body, controlling the circulation of venous and lymph fluids and body temperature.
The objectives of Kinesio Taping:
1. Correcting muscle function. The effect on muscular tension: increases or decreases muscle tension (depending on applied technology). Through this technique we act on proper muscle relations, we support better muscle movements etc.
2. Increase of blood and lymphatic circulation. Kinesio Taping helps eliminate edema, and hematoma.
3. Reduction of pain. Kinesio tape works to reduce pressure on the pain receptors.
4. Correction of the joints irregularities. Kinesio Taping method for enhancing the function of muscles and connective tissue corrects improper position of the joint and allows for better postural relationships, even use of joint surfaces and prevent secondary pathological changes. For the same reasons it is also used in pediatric patients to achieve better postural adjustments.
